Joe served as a military vehicle engineer and convoy commander. She repaired tanks, armored transports, generators, and field equipment in dangerous combat zones. After leaving the service, she returned to Ironwood and opened Barbie Joe’s Garage with her closest friend, Mia Torres. The garage became more than a repair shop. Joe trained young mechanics, helped struggling families, repaired emergency vehicles for free, and gave former soldiers a place to work. Ironwood trusted her. That made her dangerous to Victor Ironhand.The Night Ironwood Fell
Victor Ironhand once owned Ironwood Steel, the city’s largest industrial company. When the company collapsed, he blamed the workers, the government, and the city itself. He disappeared and secretly built the Iron Hand Army from mercenaries, criminals, combat machines, and stolen military technology. During a citywide blackout, Victor’s forces seized police stations, power plants, farms, mines, fuel depots, factories, highways, and communications towers.“Ironwood failed under weak leaders. The Attack on Barbie Joe’s Garage
Victor wanted Joe’s garage because it held heavy repair equipment, military-grade tools, armored vehicle parts, and Joe’s unfinished pink combat jeep. The jeep carried reinforced armor, emergency repair systems, and a mounted .50-caliber machine gun. Commander Razor Kane offered Joe a place in the Iron Hand Army. Joe refused. Razor ordered the garage destroyed. Joe armed herself, climbed into her pink tactical armor, and led the mechanics in defending the building with rifles, tools, welding equipment, and homemade explosives. The garage survived, but much of the neighborhood was captured. Looking across the burning city, Joe made her decision: she would not escape Ironwood. She would take it back.The First Resistance Base
Joe, Mia, and the survivors moved into an abandoned highway maintenance yard. There, they built a Command Center, Barracks, Medical Station, Supply Depot, Vehicle Factory, defensive walls, and guard towers. Joe recruited civilians, police officers, mechanics, farmers, miners, and former soldiers. Builders constructed and repaired the base. Medics protected the wounded. Bombers destroyed enemy defenses. Victor controlled Ironwood by controlling its resources. Mia expanded the vehicle factory, producing pink combat jeeps, personnel carriers, harvesters, repair trucks, light tanks, heavy tanks, and mobile rocket vehicles. Joe discovered that Victor was forcing captured engineers to build a giant combat machine called the Steel Enforcer. Connected to Ironwood’s electrical grid, it could destroy entire resistance bases in minutes. Joe attacked the steel district, rescued the engineers, destroyed Victor’s weapons factories, and defeated Crusher Cole in a hydraulic demolition suit. The recovered blueprints proved that Victor intended to transform Ironwood into a permanent military fortress.The Prison Army
Victor raided Ironwood Prison, armed its most dangerous inmates, and promised them control of the city. Joe established a forward base near the prison and fought through cell blocks, tunnels, guard towers, and underground mines. There she discovered that Mayor Thomas Weller had secretly helped Victor enter Ironwood. The mayor believed he could control Victor. He was wrong.The Iron Palace
Victor stored stolen gold, weapons, and government records inside the Iron Palace Casino. Joe entered during an illegal combat tournament while Mia hacked the casino network. They found the mayor hiding inside. Victor planned to kill him and blame the resistance. Joe rescued Weller—not because she forgave him, but because Ironwood deserved the truth. His confession revealed the location of Victor’s fortress.The Great Siege
Victor launched his entire army against Joe’s headquarters. The resistance answered with barracks, factories, tanks, personnel carriers, medics, builders, bombers, rocket troops, defensive walls, turrets, harvesters, and repair vehicles. When the defenses began to fail, every settlement Joe had liberated sent reinforcements. Farmers arrived with food. Miners brought metal. Mechanics repaired tanks. Police held the walls. Victor’s fortress stood inside the abandoned shipyard. Joe led the Pink Convoy through its gates. Tanks destroyed the walls. Bombers eliminated shield generators. Rocket soldiers shot down aircraft. Personnel carriers deployed infantry. Builders established a forward base while the battle continued. Mia discovered that the Steel Enforcer was connected to three reactors. Destroying it too soon could burn half of Ironwood. Joe’s forces attacked all three power stations, and Joe shut down the final reactor herself.The Steel Enforcer
Victor activated the machine before the shutdown was complete. The Steel Enforcer towered above the city with heavy armor, missiles, machine guns, and electrical weapons. Joe drove her pink jeep straight toward it. Her tanks broke its shields. Rocket troops disabled its missile systems. Bombers shattered its leg armor. Joe climbed onto the moving machine and ripped open the reactor chamber. Victor confronted her on the tower roof and claimed Ironwood needed someone strong enough to control it.“Strength isn’t making people afraid of you. Strength is giving them a reason to stand beside you.”Joe defeated Victor, then stayed behind to disconnect the damaged reactor from the city. She escaped in her battered pink jeep as the Steel Enforcer exploded behind her.
Ending
Victor and the surviving Iron Hand commanders were imprisoned. Mayor Weller was arrested. Captain Elena Brooks became Ironwood’s public safety commissioner. Mia led the city’s reconstruction program. The resistance factories began producing ambulances, farming equipment, construction vehicles, and emergency generators instead of weapons. Joe returned to Barbie Joe’s Garage. Her combat jeep remained exactly as it was. At the reopening, a child asked whether Joe was now Ironwood’s official protector. Joe smiled. “I’m still a mechanic.” An explosion echoed from another district. Mia tossed Joe her rifle. Joe climbed into the pink jeep and started the engine.“Looks like something needs fixing.”
